December 5, evening: Two concerts to choose:

6pm: a symphonic concert at the
Warsaw
Philharmonic Hall will take place. A renown Polish operatic
soprano Aleksandra Kurzak will sing pieces of Mozart, Schubert and
R. Strauss accompanied by the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra
(program of the concert). Please contact us if you are
interested.

7pm: a special Chopin concert for participants of
Scalars 2015 will be held in the Solomon Room in the Palace on the
Water (also called Palace on the Isle) in Royal Łazienki Park,
Warsaw’s finest and oldest park established more than 200 years
ago. At the beginning a short talk about Chopin’s life and work with
focus on the composer’s Polish period (the first 20 years of his life)
will be delivered. In the main part a pianist, Monika Rosca, will
play a fine repertoire, prepared especially for this occasion,
featuring Waltzes, Mazurkas, an Impromptu, a Barcarolle, and other
pieces. Concert is organised by the
Fryderyk
Chopin Society. Please contact us if you are interested.
To reach the concert hall, you should take bus number 188 going in the
direction of "Gocławek Wschodni" at the stop BANACHA-SZPITAL, and go
to the stop ROZBRAT. There you need to find Myśliwiecka street
(see the map), and walk along it until you reach crossing
with Szwoleżerów street. There is a gate leading to the Łazienki
park. In the park you should follow a wide alley for about 100 m, and
then turn right next to a round flower-bed, and continue walking for
next 100 m until you reach the Palace on Water. There are guards
around so you may ask for help in case of getting lost.

December 5, 5pm: a huge Christmas tree will be lit up at the
Castle Square, at the Old Town. At the same time the whole Royal Route
(streets leading southward from the Old Town: Krakowskie Przedmieście,
Nowy Świat streets, and further) will be illuminated with christmas
lights arranged in many different forms. The event at the Castle
Square will be accompanied by a concert of the Polish State Folk Group
of Song and Dance "Mazowsze".
